Season 7 of Smallville premiered on  the CW on September 27, 2007  and was released to DVD about a year later on September 9, 2008.  Because season 7 aired during the writer’s strike, there were only 20 episodes produced instead of the usual 22.

Season 7 focused on Clark (Tom Welling) teaching his cousin Kara (Vandervoort) how to control her abilities. It also follows Chloe (Allison Mack) coming to terms with her own ability (which she discovered during season 6).  Lex Luther (Michael Rosenbaum) and Lana (Kristin Kreuk) are still present forces (even if Lana did fake her own death in season 6). Season 7 sees some returning villians and some characters from the DC comics.
